What's happening to our Old Village School premises?
Ownership of the premises still seems to be in dispute and the
Parish Council, the Parish Plan Team and many local residents are
increasingly concerned about the future of our much beloved
Victorian Old School premises.
Please do not let these old school premises fall into disrepair
as is the case in some other Norfolk villages.
The solution seems so simple ..... we have in the middle of our
village midst a redundant community building ... we badly
need additional facilities for our teenagers, our younger
children and our elderly residents ... we are searching for
a place for a much wanted community shop and a place to house
our village history archives ... couldn't all these concerns be
solved with one stroke? Perhaps the very generous Proctor Beauchamp
Family, who were instrumental in providing our village community
with the Thurton School in the first place in 1868, could be
approached again with a request to help and grant a new lease of
life for our Old Village School .... it could be a worthy project
to support, a great benefit to our community and the perfect solution
for us all.
What do you think? How can we take this matter forward?

School or have stories of your school life at Thurton, then please
